Freebie: Free Youth Group Sermon on Social Media

saulo-mohana-77106Early this summer I taught a lesson on social media to my students. The lesson was called Using Social Media for the Glory of God. I want to give you this lesson so you can teach it to your students as well. It’s a simple, topical lesson that may come in handy when your short on prep time or you need a lesson to teach between two series. Even though it’s a simple lesson, it’s a very important one for our students to hear. Social media is huge in their culture. They need to know God’s Word applies to how they use social media. This is what this lesson does. It explains three Biblical truths that will help guide them in using social media for the glory of God.

The links below provide all the resources you need to teach this lesson. I have included the teaching manuscript, PowerPoint presentation, and a Keynote presentation for Mac users. Enjoy!

Using Social Media for God’s Glory (PowerPoint)
Using Social Media for God’s Glory (Keynote)

[Feedback] I would love to hear your thoughts on this lesson or hear if you plan on using it in the future.

    1. Rick,

Thanks for stopping by my site and checking this sermon out. I think it’s important we address social media from the perspective of God’s Word to our students. That is why I did this lesson. I hope you will find it helpful with your students. Would love to hear some feedback if you do use it or atleast use it as a resource to create your own sermon on social media.

  1. This is great and exactly what I’ve been looking for to teach my youth! Thank you for sharing!

    1. Rhonda,

Thanks for letting me know! I would love to hear how it goes after you teach it. Praying it impacts your students and they strive to honor God with their social media use.

    1. The egg carton illustration helps students see that like an egg carton we tend to divide up our lives into sections. Because of that we as Christians often make God one of those sections. However, God doesn’t want to be a section of our lives. He wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives. We shouldn’t make God a section of our lives but give Him all of our life for Him to use and work.

    1. Many times students see their lives as an egg carton. That they have all these sections for their life. They have a school section, family section, sports section, etc. So they put God in a section and make Him part of their lives when really He should be in every section effecting every part of your life. Make sense?

  3. Thanks for the useful information. Am going to use it as part of my conference teachings next week.

  4. Austin,

I read this article a couple of months ago, but now that I trying to read it again, it is telling me that it has been made private or moved. Is there a reason I can’t download it again?
